DR ROBERT (BOB) SYMONS Regional Technical Manager, Eurofins Environment Testing Australia P/L
Microplastics contamination is a critical, yet poorly understood, variable in environmental, food and the biopharma market sectors. As they are detected everywhere, from bottled water to indoor air, the risk to sensitive products grows. This webinar provides a clear roadmap for detection. We will explore how Eurofins has adopted an integrated approach - combining pristine cleanroom protocols, sophisticated sample preparation and advanced quality assurance, as well as NATA accreditation, combined with Laser Direct Infrared (LDIR) Chemical Imaging - that delivers actionable data on microplastics in even the most complex samples. Bob Symons is the Regional Technical Manager for Eurofins Environment Testing Australia and is responsible for contaminants of emerging concern and sits on its PFAS global peer group. Bob has a PhD in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from La Trobe University and an undergraduate degree from Victoria University in Melbourne. Bob is a past member of NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia) Life Sciences Accreditation Advisory Committee and a current Technical Assessor for ISO/IEC 17025. Bob’s research interests include the analysis of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls, brominated flame retardants and PFAS, as well as PPCPs, using advanced mass spectrometric techniques. Bob was instrumental in establishing the accredited microplastics facility at the Eurofins Melbourne laboratory.
